General Requirements
- Have experience working with populations in resource limited areas domestically and/or internationally
- Have experience teaching in classroom, simulation and/or clinical settings
- Have an active valid license to practice at the time of placement (or equivalent form of official registration to practice)
- Have availability for approximately 12 months
- Be proficient in English language
Nursing Positions
Seed nurse educators are placed as visiting faculty at academic institutions in Uganda, where they partner with faculty and clinicians to support the development and teaching of nursing courses including classroom, skills/simulation lab and clinical education in the bachelor’s and master’s of nursing degree programs and programs such as ETAT, EMONC, and BLS.
Seed nurse educators will partner with faculty at academic institutions in Malawi to teach and support master’s degree-level classroom, skills/simulation lab, and clinical education. They may also have the opportunity to support professional development of faculty and in-service nurses with curriculum development and teaching and evaluation methodologies in classroom and clinical settings.
Midwifery Educators work in Malawi, Sierra Leone, Uganda, and Zambia. Their responsibilities include in-classroom teaching, direct clinical care, clinical precepting, and quality improvement projects that promote midwifery-centered care and respectful maternity care.
Pediatric Nurse Educators support bachelors degree and masters level classroom, skills/simulation lab, and clinical education in Malawi and Uganda. They may also have the opportunity to support the development and integration of ICU and/or emergency care into pediatric nursing programs.
Physician Positions
Emergency Medicine Physician Educators support the development of new/emerging postgraduate emergency medicine training programs in Uganda through mentorship and classroom and clinical instruction.
Family Medicine Physician Educators collaborate with local faculty in Malawi and Zambia to teach and train medical students and postgraduate family medicine trainees and/or work within other departments (ex: pediatrics, emergency medicine) to meet institutional goals.
and Gynecology
OB/GYN Physician Educators work in the operating room, wards, and classrooms alongside faculty in Malawi and Uganda to assist all levels of clinical education. They also help develop and support training and simulation programs.
Pediatric Physician Educators work in Malawi and Uganda alongside local faculty in both classroom and clinical settings, supporting all levels of undergraduate and postgraduate clinical education. Clinical settings are primarily focused on acute and inpatient pediatric care. Classroom education can include didactic lectures, small group sessions, and case presentations.

Application Process

Submit Online Application
Applications for annual educator positions will open in in September and close November 1 [11:59PM PST]. Completed applications and supporting documents will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Initial Interview
Candidates whose qualifications best meet placement needs will be invited for an initial video or phone interview with Seed’s clinical teams.

Second Interview
Short-listed candidates will be matched to the country and partner site(s) that best aligns with their skill set. They will have a second interview with Seed’s country teams and partner site representatives.

Selection
Successful candidates will be notified and receive an offer for placement as a Seed Educator on a rolling basis.

Orientation and Departure to Placement Country
Educators attend a mandatory pre-departure orientation before leaving for their placement country. Upon arrival in-country, educators participate in a mandatory orientation before traveling to their placement site.

Pay & Leave
Educators receive a monthly salary. Educators are eligible for a minimum of four weeks paid leave. Educators are eligible for a readjustment allowance post-service.
Housing & Travel
Housing that meets our minimum safety and amenity standards is provided for educators by Seed or partner institutions. There may be occasional situations where housing is shared and some educators may live directly on the premises of the placement site. Seed handles all travel logistics to and from the country of placement.
Insurance
Seed Global Health offers educators a comprehensive insurance package that includes medical and dental insurance, workers compensation insurance, medical and security assistance, and evacuation insurance. Seed also provides malpractice insurance while educators are in country.
Visa/Work Permit
Seed will sponsor and guide you in submitting documentation to acquire the appropriate visas, work permits, and licenses to legally fulfill your duties in your placement country.
Completion Certificate
Seed Educators who complete a year of service will receive a “Completion of Service Certificate” in recognition of their’ commitment to strengthening health education and mentoring the next generation of international healthcare leaders.
